DRAWING WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS

Saturday Jan.27th 1:00-3:30pm

Well, I’ve got a great workshop for you! A gentle, inspiring introduction to the world of botanical ink drawing.

In this workshop we’ll explore the fundamentals of drawing botanicals. Through a series of exercises, we’ll discover how to create value, shapes, textures, light & shadow with ink. We’ll practice drawing different petals and leaves and then apply everything that we’ve learned to draw a beautiful floral wreath.

WHO’S IT FOR?

  • anyone who is interested in learning how to draw botanicals with ink! It’s perfect if you’re a beginner, as we’ll be covering some basic techniques, but there’s also room if you’re more experienced.

  • All creative skill levels welcome -- it’s fun and playful for everyone

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

  • A 2.5 hour in-person art class at the beautiful, new Living Room Studio in Gibsons

  • An illustrated Zine with notes from the class that I’ve created for you

  • All materials will be provided for you to use

  • A drawing template to follow or create your own

  • We’ll cover some basic ink techniques, how to approach petals and leaves and explore the fun world of botanical ink drawing!

Creative Collage Workshop

A TWO-PART WORKSHOP:

PACIFIC NORTHWEST ANIMALS

While my home is quiet most of the time, I know that not everyone’s space is these days -- especially those with kids at home and full-time gigs. So, if you’re looking for a break and want your kids to get creative, I’ve got a great class for you!

I'll guide your kid(s) through the process of making colourful collages using hand-painted papers they’ve created. With the help of templates, everyone can make their own, unique and colourful piece of artwork. The templates of orcas, salmon and raven are just a starting point and I'm always amazed with what kids come up with!

WHO’S IT FOR?

  • Best suited for children age 8 to 12

  • All creative skill levels welcome -- it’s fun and playful for everyone

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

  • 2 x 1:15mins Zoom led art classes by me

  • First class: Using paints, inks or whatever materials you have on hand, we’ll make our own hand-painted papers

  • Second class: We’ll use the hand-painted papers created in the first class as our collage material. Kids will be able to use templates of whales, salmon and birds to create a one-of-a-kind piece.

  • Easy to use templates to print at home

  • Each participant leaves with a beautiful piece of artwork, ready to frame and the skills to create more

  • A fun, nurturing environment that promotes creative thinking and play

MATERIALS REQUIRED 

  • Paint or an assortment of colour making tools -- anything to make some colourful marks on paper. i.e. felt markers, crayons, or inks (Liquitex ink and watercolour paper is highly recommended but it’s possible to do the workshop without it)

  • White paper (heavier weight like watercolour paper is ideal)

  • paintbrushes & water jar

  • glue stick

  • scissors

Well, I’ve got a great workshop for you! A gentle, inspiring introduction to the world of botanical drawing.

In this workshop we’ll explore the fundamentals of drawing botanicals from observation. We'll start off with some technical exercises that lay the foundation for our sketches and wander around the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden to apply what we’re learning.

This workshop is intended to give you the building blocks to start drawing more realistic plants. You should go home with lovely sketches and some new skills and confidence up your sleeve.

In this workshop we’ll explore the fundamentals of drawing botanicals. Through a series of exercises, we’ll discover how to create value, shapes, textures, light & shadow with ink. We’ll practice drawing different petals and leaves and then apply everything that we’ve learned to draw a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

WHO’S IT FOR?

  • anyone who is interested in learning how to draw botanicals with ink! It’s perfect if you’re a beginner, as we’ll be covering some basic techniques, but there’s also room if you’re more experienced.

  • All creative skill levels welcome -- it’s fun and playful for everyone

  • adults, must be legal drinking age as workshop takes place at a brewery

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

  • A 2.5 hour in-person art class in the beautiful apple orchard of Persephone Brewery

  • One beer/cider (or non-alcoholic drink)

  • An illustrated Zine with notes from the class that I’ve created for you

  • All materials will be provided for you to use

Create Your Own Butterfly Garden Workshop

WANT YOUR KIDS TO BRING SOME SUNSHINE INDOORS?

Exploring patterns, colours and symmetry with paper & paint

I'll guide your kid(s) through the process of making a gorgeous piece of art featuring butterflies and plants. We’ll explore different ways of creating and layering textures, symmetry, patterns and colours. Kids will create their own, unique butterfly garden.

WHO’S IT FOR?

  • Best suited for children age 8 to 12

  • All creative skill levels welcome -- it’s fun and playful for everyone

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

  • 2 x 1 hour Zoom led art classes by Sarah Clement

  • First class is on Saturday February 13th, 1:00-2:00pm PST. Using paints, felt markers and coloured paper, we’ll explore different ways to create patterns and textures. We’ll work on creating leaves and flowers.

  • Second class is Sunday February 14th, 1:00-2:00pm PST. We’ll work on creating our beautiful butterflies using some of the colours and patterns we created the day before. We’ll bring it all together by combining the plants and butterflies and voila! You have your own butterfly garden. You could even attach it to a string to make a beautiful wall hanging.

  • Each participant leaves with a beautiful piece of artwork, ready to put on the wall and skills to create more

  • A fun, nurturing environment that promotes creative thinking and play

  • Coloured paper/construction paper

  • White paper (computer paper)

  • Paint (ideally acrylic)
